Slump continues for Fastball Team

The late season slump continued last week for the Agassiz Men's Fastball Club as they lost both ends of a home doubleheader. Agassiz' defense has gone south, when you add their lack of timely hitting; it makes a recipe for disaster. The 7 pm game on Tuesday was versus an arch rival; the Chwk Slammers. The result was an 8 to 1 loss. Fabian Goodwill took the loss on the mound allowing 9 hits with 1 strikeout. Agassiz committed 5 errors in the game contributing to the outcome.

Agassiz managed 5 hits off of Chwk pitcher Clayton Beck with the top batters being Fabian Goodwill, 1 for 1; and Daryl Dix, Rob Woodrow, and Ryan Robson, all 1 for 2.

Despite playing better in the 8:30 pm game, Agassiz was shutout 4 to 0 by Exxcel Pacific from Lynden. Agassiz out hit the Lynden squad 6 to 4 but their lack of clutch hitting continues to plague them. They also squandered a good effort from pitcher Vaughn Mindel who allowed just 2 earned runs from the 4 hits and struck out 12 Exxcell hitters.

Top agassiz batters for the game were Chuck Pettis, 2 for 3 and Todd McLean, Daryl Dix, Vaughn Mindel and Doug Duncan, all 1 for 3.

Next home game:

Tuesday, July 8, 7 p.m. Agassiz vs Terry's Paints @ Agassiz D5
