Signs, signs everywhere signs

I walk my dog several times a day along Esplanade Avenue south of the lagoon in Harrison.

As repeat behavior in my case promotes boredom, I found myself noticing yet another large multiple sign installation at the lagoon. It got me to wondering. So as we moved along, I began to count the municipal signage viewable (no commercial signs were counted) between Rendell Park and the new plaza. In this short 6/10ths of a kilometer walk, I counted 101 signs all erected by the Village!

I was amazed. The Five Man Electrical Band was right. I wonder if the Village folks think: we are really idiots who need to be controlled and propagandized, or we would run entirely amok if we didn’t have signs, or we cannot criticize them if there is a sign in place, or if somebody owns a share in a sign shop.

Hmmm…..maybe it’s all of these. Anyhow, the more signs – the less attention anyone pays attention to them.
