Hey kids, and kids at heart. There's a chance this weekend to get up close and personal with the fire fighters and fire fighting equipment that keep our community a safer place to live.

All this week, fire halls around the country will be working to the message of prevention out to the public.

Fire Prevention Week runs from Oct. 4 until Oct. 10.

And in Agassiz, an open house will be held this Saturday, Oct. 10.

The public is invited to stop by the fire hall anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to learn more about fire prevention in general, to meet local firefighters, tour the hall, and check out the engines and equipment. There will be refreshments throughout the day.

For a full list of fire prevention tips, fire safety information, escape plans and more, visit www.fiprecan.ca.

Also, remember to take some time this fall to check batteries in fire alarms, and practice an escape plan.
