A driver who was pulled over for erratic driving was arrested, when it was discovered the vehicle he was driving was stolen.

Cheam Security saw him driving a white F-350 on lawns in the Cheam Crescent area in Agassiz on September 8, and alerted police.

A description of the vehicle, and the male suspect seen driving the vehicle, was provided to police by the alert security guard. Police arrived to find the vehicle parked and unoccupied on West Victor Drive, with a damaged ignition. The vehicle was stolen from the Chilliwack area two days prior.

A man matching the description of the driver exited a residence in the area and started to walk away from police who were there investigating. The male suspect, age 23 of no fixed address, was arrested for possession of stolen property without incident and has been held in custody to appear in Chilliwack Provincial Court today to face charges. He is known to police.

The police are encouraging the public to report suspicious activity. In this case the keen eyes of a local security partner has lead to the arrest of an auto theft suspect. Had police not received the call of erratic driving, the suspect may not have located.
