Firefighters are now busy in this area trying to contain a forest fire, north of Harrison Hot Springs.

The fire started on Friday, reportedly from a car fire on West Harrison Forest Service road.

The fire is near Bremner Creek, and on Sunday at noon was about 66 ha., and 20 per cent contained.

The BC Wildfire Management Branch's website, which tracks all the major fires around the province, says that retardant lines are now holding and ground crews comprising 41 firefighters are working the fire with aerial assistance from helicopter bucketing. Three helicopters are being used to help with the blaze.

The West Harrison Forest Service road is closed at the 57 km marker to protect public safety. That closure is just north of the Doctors Bay campsite.

The start of the fire is under investigation by the RCMP.
