About Us
The District of Kent is a vibrant and growing community of about 5,000 residents in Agassiz and Harrison Mills, along with Rockwell Drive northeast of Harrison Hot Springs. Its majestic scenery and mild climate cater to an outdoor lifestyle that is full of opportunities.
Whether you prefer relaxing in one of the community parks, swimming at Ferny Coombe Pool, taking in the stock-car racing action at Kent Raceways, or joining us at the Agassiz Fall Fair and Corn Festival, Kent has something for everyone.
Numerous community groups and Kent Leisure Services offer special events and programs for all ages. Facilities include an outdoor pool, tennis courts, a skateboard park and a seniors centre. Pioneer Park is the ideal setting for the Summer Concert Series, with free performances Wednesday evenings during July and August.
If history is your forte, choose to explore our community with a visit to the Agassiz Museum in the original CPR station dating back over 100 years, located at the Pacific Agri-Food Research Centre- Agassiz.
Historic Harrison Mills is home to Kilby Store and Farm, which was the commercial centre of the once-thriving logging town in the 1920s.
As you stroll through downtown Agassiz, your eyes will catch the many murals on several commercial buildings, which have become a popular unique attraction.
In the heart of Fraser Valley lies the world famous resort village of Harrison Hot Springs. Discovered by gold miners in the 1850, the springs became the drawing card for B.C.'s first resort when the St. Alice Hotel opened in 1886. Today visitors enjoy a wide range of room accommodations, campgrounds, restaurants and gift shops. Harrison has something to interest every member of the family. And despite our international reputation, Harrison is still very much a small village. The pace is leisurely and the atmosphere is friendly.
The combination of architecture, ethnic food and a spectacular setting makes a visit to Harrison reminiscent of a trip to an alpine village in Europe.
A beautiful white sand beach stretches along the south shore of a 45 mile long lake. Sailboats, islands, mountains, glaciers and blue sky make a picture postcard scene that is hard to forget and a pleasure to remember.
