BIG WEEK FOR BERKENPAS

Steve Berkenpas of the Columbia Bible College men's volleyball team has been named B.C. Colleges Athletic Association (BCCAA) athlete of the week.

Berkenpas, a six-foot-six right-side hitter, was instrumental in the Bearcats' five-set win over the UFV Cascades last Saturday. Berkenpas racked up 23 kills, five blocks and four aces.

WOLVES WIN DISTRICT TITLE

The Grade 7 boys volleyball team from Chief Dan George Middle School won the district title this week.

Chief Dan edged W.A. Fraser 25-23 in the gold medal match. Wolves' standouts included Lucas Gray, Christian Thiessen, Ryan Siemens, Garrett Johal, Mack Lemay, Jeremyi Longpre and Providence Izere.

GRESS GOLDEN AT REGIONALS

Elina Gress's gold medal was the highlight for the Abbotsford Skating Club at B.C. Figure Skating Regionals in Chilliwack last week.

Gress took first place in the junior bronze ladies 13-and-over category. Sam Fontaine added a silver in the pre-preliminary men's division, while Mason Haglov won bronze in the senior bronze men's competition.

Other top-10 finishes came from Tyler Miller (fourth in pre-novice men's short program and seventh in long program); Marcelle Fontaine (fourth in senior bronze men's); and Olivia Knight (fourth in pre-introductory interpretive).

'RUNNERS RALLY VS. RAVENS

The Eugene Reimer Ravens dropped a 19-8 decision to the Mission Roadrunners in Grade 8 football action.

The Ravens led 8-6 at the half, but the Roadrunners rallied for the win. Alex Ho scored the lone Reimer touchdown, along with the two-point convert. Other Ravens standouts included Manveer Binning, Wyatt Haywood and Brandon Ho.
