Big football win for Jimy Mac's
The Jimy Mac's Eagles won the Division III title in Fraser Valley Touch Football League action on Sunday, highlighting the final weekend of the fall schedule.
The Jimy Mac's squad has long been a league cellar-dweller, but they capped their rise to the top with a 22-13 victory over the first-place Cudas in the Div. III final. Danny Walton and Brad Bailey had strong games for the Eagles in the win.
In Div. I action, Wayne Daigneault led Team Hurley to victory over the Razorbacks in the title game. Hurley's win marked the first time in six years that the Razorbacks had not won the Div. 1 playoff title.
The Div. II champion was Orange Crush, which knocked off the Mission Saints 21-0 in the semis and the Blaze 19-12 in the final. Steve McGovern, Mike Zedar and Marten Westin scored TDs in the semifinal victory.
In Div. IV play, Shane Mathieu's second touchdown broke open a close game in the fourth quarter, and the Flintstones went on to a 31-16 win over Furious George.
