Big wins for Hurricanes, Panthers

In high school football action, the Rick Hansen Hurricanes notched a huge road victory over the Sands Scorpions on Friday.
The Hurricanes, ranked No. 3 among AA teams in the province, beat the No. 5-ranked Scorpions 21-7 behind a huge game from Avi Harry. The running back carried the ball 20 times for 154 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown scamper.
Daniel McCutcheon and Mitch Lesyk each caught five-yard scoring passes from Greg Bowcott, while Matt Schwab and Kholbe Warren had two sacks apiece.
Elsewhere, the Abbotsford Collegiate Panthers senior football squad posted its first victory of the season, beating Langley 20-14.
Quarterback Carson Williams led the way, throwing for more than 200 yards and three TDs. His favourite target was Peter Johns, who had 100 yards receiving and two majors, and Ryan Andres also found the end zone.
Defensively, the Panthers were led by Mike Wiebe (four tackles, one sack) and Michael Nguyen (five tackles).
