Heat to open vs. Canucks farm team

The Vancouver Canucks’ top farm team will be the first opponent to visit the Abbotsford Heat this fall.
The local American Hockey League squad will host the Manitoba Moose for a pair of preseason games at the Entertainment and Sports Centre in late September.
“This will give our fans a chance to experience our building and the great atmosphere that will become a Heat hockey tradition, as well as an opportunity to see a strong division rival in the Manitoba Moose,” Heat president Tom Mauthe stated.
The Heat and Moose will play their first preseason game on Friday, Sept. 25, with the puck dropping at 7:30 p.m. The second game of the two-game set will take place on Sunday, Sept. 27, with the opening faceoff scheduled for 5 p.m.
The two dates with the Moose represent the Heat’s only exhibition contests. The full AHL regular season schedule will be released later this month.
Led by top Canucks goaltending prospect Cory Schneider, the Moose made a run to the Calder Cup finals last season, where they fell in six games to the Hershey Bears.
