Disillusioned

I was brought up to believe that the mandate of our government was to serve the people, not just those who elected them, but all citizens. To provide housing, education, health care and so on.

Mr. Campbell and his ministers have seriously neglected these services to the people of this province and have gone so far as to have us, the taxpayer, serve them, the government.

Referring to the recent announcement that government ministers will be entitled to a million-plus dollars worth of Olympic Games tickets, and not long before this, Crown corporation executives received millions of dollars worth of tickets.

Yes that’s you and me, our tax money providing our well-paid civil servants, some who even have the title of “honourable” to events that the average working British Columbian can’t afford.

I guess I’ve been sadly disillusioned as to the purpose of government.
