Leave green space

I would like to somehow make our city council understand that it’s unacceptable to donate our parkland and rezone it for use in a housing development.

Would it be possible to force these elected people to learn about stuff like “urban renewal,” rather then just constantly allowing them to adjust the official community plan every time they want a development?

You all supported building the entertainment centre away from all amenities and it wiped out your budget for the next 25 years, even with a substantial rise to our taxes, and yet you were all re-elected.

Before this last election, one of you in particular got heavy flak when you spouted off about the Emerson Street property. I guess you all feel now that it’s the middle of summer and nobody’s looking so it’s time to ram this through.

Judgment day comes every three years. Sooner or later the tax-paying victims in this city will wake up and demand a change from your absolutely idiotic development proposals.

I don’t have a problem with taking provincial tax dollars to build social housing, but I wouldn’t recommend stealing one square inch of our park space to do it. Go and buy a couple of old ranchers and rezone them but leave the green spaces alone forever.
