Steamed over gas prices

Re: “Gas price may retreat by August” (The News, June 24).
The last guess on the price of oil returning from the stratosphere was in mid-March. Back then, it was supposed to peak at $125 (US)/barrel by the beginning of May. Didn’t happen.
Predicting the future is a fairy inexact art. Witness the political popularity game at our doorsteps. Will the $100 bribe with our own money actually work? I doubt it. Folks are really steaming over the price at the pump.
There’s there’s the sad sight of the premier and elected reps informing us they feel our pain. Just notice what happens to the length of their noses when they spout this drivel.
Aside from a take-home pay that dwarfs our own, MLAs have travel expenses covered by taxpayer funds (costs which will increase July 1 – for schools boards and health regions as well).
Even once retired, MLAs get to use B.C. ferries without paying.
Interesting, the last government fell over the cost of ferries. This one may very well fall over the cost of travelling on the ferries – or the cost of travelling any which way, actually.
