A 40-year-old man was murdered Thursday night in the front entrance of a home in a quiet Abbotsford cul-de-sac.
Neighbours believe the man may have been gunned down in a drive-by shooting.
He is Abbotsford's second murder victim of the year.
The man is known to police and he is suspected of having links to organized crime, said Abbotsford Police Const. Casey Vinet.
"All indications are that the victim was targeted," Vinet said.
Some details about the killing are not being released to the public, because police are continuing their investigation.
Police were called to 1432 Kipling St., near the corner of McCallum and King roads, about 10:40 p.m., after neighbours reported they heard gun shots being fired.
When police arrived, the man was found dead on the front steps of his house.
One of the neighbours, Harbans Sandhu, said she was in bed when she was shocked to hear gun shots down her street.
"The shots were quite loud. We heard two shots and we thought somebody was shot," Sandhu said.Once the police cars arrived, 20-30 people gathered around the home to find out what happened.
Kipling Street was cordoned off overnight while investigators from the Abbotsford Police Detective Unit, Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) and Forensic Services combed the scene for clues, Vinet explained.
The name of the victim was not released, as of deadline.
No arrests have been made in the murder.
A silver SUV was seen in the area about the time of the shooting, however, Vinet said it's unknown if the vehicle played any part in the homicide.
