FATAL FIRE

The man who died in a Mission house fire on Thursday morning has been identified as 40-year-old Michael Sedore. The fire call came in at 6:11 a.m., for a residence at 8778 Cedar Ave., at the intersection of Cedar and Tunbridge. The house was

rented by a couple, and Sedore was staying with them. The woman of the house got out, and secured the safety of

approximately 20 dogs at the property. She suffered burns on her arms, and is in intensive care at Vancouver General Hospital. Her husband was not home, having left for work

earlier that morning. An

investigation determined that the blaze was caused by a space heater in the living room.

Sedore was in a back bedroom.

TOP LAB SKILLS

A three-member team of students from W. J. Mouat Secondary captured top spot in a chemistry competition last month. The team, represented by Navi Garcha, Judy Lee and Mandeep Saran, won the Fraser Valley Secondary School Chemistry Lab Skills Competition. It was held at Trinity Western University in Langley. A second Mouat team placed fourth, while second and third spots went to Langley’s Mountain Secondary and Abbotsford’s Yale Secondary.

War Brides and Heroes is the topic of a presentation at MSA Museum on Sunday, Nov. 8.

Organizers say the event

celebrates “the lives, the stories and the memories of those in our community who gave so much.” Second World War
