Abbotsford police and the emergency response team surrounded a house on George Ferguson Way for about an hour and half Tuesday afternoon.

Armed patrol officers and members of the Municipal Integrated Emergency Response Team (MIERT) took extra precautions when approaching the home in the 32100 block of George Ferguson Way as they had information the suspect might have a weapon, said Const. Ian MacDonald.

"We were operating under the premise there was someone who could have a weapon and might do harm to himself or others. So we don't want to go storming into the house if we can help it," said MacDonald.

The mid-day siege ended with the arrest of a 23-year-old man for allegedly breaching conditions related to a previous domestic dispute.
