Abbotsford city council is considering an application by the Station House Bar and Grill for a liquor primary licence.

If approved, the Station House would have 100 seats with a liquor primary licence and 100 with a food primary licence. Alcohol without food could be consumed in the liquor primary section.

The business at 3122 Station Rd. currently operates a food primary business with a 156-seat capacity.

The application went to a public hearing in Matsqui Centennial Auditorium on Monday. Less than 10 local residents addressed council at that time.

The pub licence proposal by the Station House is the first to have gone to council since city hall, in June, scrapped its requirement to have liquor primary licence applications go to a public referendum.

Instead, the city informed all residents living within 1,000 metres that the public hearing would be staged.
