Drunk driver visits Abbotsford Police

It seems Abbotsford officers don't even have to leave the police station to get their man.
A 21-year-old woman showed up at the Abbotsford Police Department on Sunday afternoon to pick up her driver's licence following a 24-hour suspension for impaired driving.
Accompanying the young woman was a 22-year-old man who had driven her to the station in a black Dodge pickup truck.
However, it soon became apparent to staff the woman had been drinking before she arrived, said Const. Ian MacDonald.
"Basically, she smelled of alcohol and was not entirely stable on her feet," he said.
What's more, police suspected the woman had not been drinking alone.
Police examined the couple's truck, which was parked amid squad cars in a section of the parking lot clearly marked "police vehicles only."
The Dodge contained both empty and full containers of beer.
The man then proceeded to fail a sobriety test, said MacDonald.
"We seized the man's licence... and she's clearly in no shape to drive, so their vehicle was towed."
Staff thought the incident was pretty amusing, said MacDonald.
"It was a demonstration of some less-than-intelligent criminal behaviour. That being said, we recognize the seriousness of impaired driving.
"The good news is that he didn't drive home and kill anyone yesterday."
Abbotsford Police will be on the lookout when the couple return to obtain the man's seized licence.
"We're hopeful that they'll arrive by taxi," said MacDonald.
