Teenage shooting victim has died
Published: August 02, 2008 12:00 PMA teenage boy shot by his friend in Abbotsford last week died in hospital on Thursday.
The 17-year-old youth was shot in the head at a home in the 4000 block of Brisbane Court last Saturday night.
The victim’s 17-year-old friend was arrested, and charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm. Investigators of the integrated homicide investigation team (IHIT) are expected to meet with Crown counsel to discuss further charges against the suspect.
The victim was at the Brisbane court house with three of his friends when the shooting occurred, said police. Investigators recovered a firearm at the scene.
Police are revealing few details about what precipitated the shooting.
“We’re not in a position to discuss the details of the shooting as the case is before the courts,” said Abbotsford Police Const. Casey Vinet.
However, investigators are not ruling anything out, he said.
