Police board recruits two new members

The Abbotsford Police board has landed some new recruits.
Jon Eaton and Jatinder “Jati” Sidhu officially became the police board’s newest members June 30.
The pair replace outgoing board members Sandy Blue and Erwin Braun, who served six years and three years respectively.
Mayor George Ferguson, who serves as the board chairman, presented Blue and Braun with plaques and thanked them for their commitment to the police board at last week’s meeting.
“Thank you for your dedication and exemplary service and the amount of work and effort you’ve done for the police board,” said Ferguson.
New members Eaton and Sidhu have been attending the board’s monthly meetings since April to familiarize themselves with their new positions.
Eaton is a portfolio manager with Eaton Elliott Wealth Management that operates in partnership with RBC Dominion Securities.
Eaton has more than 20 years of business, financial and investment management experience, ranging from private business to becoming a portfolio manager with one of Canada’s largest banks.
He has volunteered with Ducks Unlimited Canada, and most recently served as treasurer of Abbotsford Minor Hockey Association
He, his wife and their three children have lived in Abbotsford since 1997.
Sidhu is a principal with the Sidhu Group of Companies, and owner and operator of Greenvale Farms.
A commercial berry farmer and residential developer, he has worked with a number of community organizations in the past decade.
He has served as a director with the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce, Fraser Valley Indo-Canadian Business Association and Abbotsford Agrifair
He has been married to his wife for 31 years, has three children and holds a bachelor of arts in economics from the Punjab University of Chandigar.
