Network news

The Mission chapter of the Valley Women’s Network meets Thursday, Oct. 9 at the Bellevue Hotel (32998 First Ave.).

The luncheon takes place from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $15 for members. This month’s presenter is Sue Clement of Success Coaching. She shares the secrets of successful networking.

The Central Valley Naturalists welcome city councillor Patricia Ross to their meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Ross discusses Metro Vancouver’s plans to build waste-to-energy incinerators in the Lower Mainland. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the SHARES centre (2478 McCallum Rd.).

Library friends meet

The Friends of the Abbotsford Libraries meets on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.

Support for colitis

The Fraser Valley East chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation meets Wednesday, Oct. 8 at Terry Fox elementary (3071 Babich St.).

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and features guest speaker Dr. Egolf presenting an introductory talk on inflammatory bowel disease.

La Leche League meets Thursday, Oct. 9 at Northview Community Church.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and is for pregnant and new moms looking for information about breastfeeding.

The Abby-Mission Newcomers – a social group for women new to the area – meets Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m.

Location is De Dutch Pannekoek House (#4-33324 South Fraser Way). A guest speaker will be on hand from the BC Cancer Foundation.
