Blankets for Canada, a non-profit Canada-wide organization, holds a blanket-joining party today (Thursday, Nov. 5). The session is from 1 to 4 p.m. at Michaels arts and crafts store in Abbotsford. Volunteers will join crocheted and knitted squares into blankets for those in need in Abbotsford. All materials are supplied. Donations of yarn are appreciated. Dances are hosted every Friday by the Abbotsford Seniors’ Association. The dances run from 8 to 11 p.m. at the ASA hall, 33889 Essendene Ave. Cost is $5.50 for members and $6 for non-members. Adults of all ages are invited. Bands for this month are Sentimental Journey (Nov. 6), Sweetwater (Nov. 13), Cadence (Nov. 20), and Ben Isaac (Nov. 27).

MSA Museum (2313 Ware St.) hosts a Nimble Thimbles workshop on Saturday, Nov. 7 to sew a Christmas bag and apron. The beginner level, for ages eight to adult, is from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the adult level is from 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $25. Info and registration: 604-853-0313.

The Seniors Clinic holds free health seminars for people of all ages at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre.

The topics for November are:

– heart failure – a three-part session on Nov. 6, 13 and 20 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m;

– Seniors Clinic orientation – Nov. 13, 1 to 2 p.m.;

– bone health – Nov. 18, 11 a.m. to noon;

– memory – Nov. 27, 1 to 2:30 p.m.; and

– sleep – Nov. 27, 3 to 4 p.m.

The Abbotsford Quilters’ Guild meets the second Tuesday of each month at Ross Road Community Church, 3160 Ross Rd.
