Hyperactive, but still quite lovable
Jake is a five-year-old, wire-haired terrier crossed with a dachshund. Like most terriers, he is hyperactive and thinks he owns the house.
The Abbotsford News is presenting a monthly page called Furry Friends.
Each month we will feature two local pets.
Send in your favourite pet stories (150 words or less) and photos, we’d love to print them. Send the information to pets@abbynews.com
Name: Jacob O’Reilly (Jake)
Age: 5 years
Breed: Terrier cross
You are never alone when Jake is in the house. The five-year-old terrier cross is at your feet from the moment you walk in the door.
Looking for love and attention, Jake will follow you around everywhere you go. With a stuffed toy in his mouth, he’s always ready for a game of tug-of-war.
One of his favourite exercises is running around the coffee table, hoping someone will chase him. When my three-year-old grandson, Gavin, chases him, Jake runs a little slower so he can catch up – but never quite slow enough to get caught.
At night, Jake cuddles up on the couch with my wife. First he snuggles beside her, but as the evening wears on, he eventually ends up sprawled across her lap. He’s rather annoyed when disturbed.
While hyperactive, you can’t help but feel your heart melt when Jake looks up at you.
