Updated: August 24, 2009 3:15 PM
The 861 Silverfox Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets is holding information and registration nights for all returning and new Air Cadets.
These meetings are scheduled for Aug. 26 and Sept. 2 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the air cadet building at Exhibition Park in Abbotsford (32470 Haida Drive).
Potential cadets must be between the ages of 12 to 18 and want to learn and participate in activities such as flying, outdoor survival, parade drill, citizenship events, band and target shooting. The goal is to develop transferable, career-enhancing skills that last a lifetime.
Cadets can also earn high school course credits. Training takes place every Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. from September to June.
The cadet program is jointly sponsored by the Department of National Defence and the Air Cadet League of Canada so the basic training and activities are free and there is no charge for the uniform and training supplies. There is a registration fee to enroll in 861 Squadron.
If you wish to register please attend with your parent or guardian and bring the original copy of your provincial health insurance care card, birth certificate and proof Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status.
