HEATING UP

Simon Fraser University conducts a study in Abbotsford on Friday, July 10, and interview subjects over the age of 65 are needed.

The study will look at the perception and knowledge of heat as a health hazard among seniors in the lower Fraser Valley.

Study participants are needed for about an hour. They will be asked questions relating to their knowledge, attitudes and practices during hot weather.

Interviews take place tomorrow (Friday) at Abbotsford Community Services, 2420 Montrose Ave.

STORY TIME

Clearbrook Library (32320 George Ferguson Way) holds a Mumble Jumble story time every Thursday in July, starting at 10:30 a.m.

The sessions, geared for kids ages two to seven, include stories, dancing, puppets and more.

BE A HOST

Volunteers are always needed for the Host Program at Gladwin Language Centre.

Volunteers are matched with newcomers for friendship, conversation and English practice. A commitment is needed of two to four hours each month for at least six months.

FOR MOMS

La Leche League meets the second Thursday of each month at Northview Community Church.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and is for pregnant and new moms looking for information about breastfeeding. For more information, call Catherine at 604-859-1797.

SPEAK OUT

Toast of the City Toastmasters Club meets every Wednesday at noon.

The group gets together at city hall to help people improve their public-speaking skills.
