The Envision Twilight Concert Series brings the Mount Baker Toppers to Fraser River Heritage Park on Wednesday, June 24.

The concert is held from 7 to 8 p.m.

The Mount Baker Toppers is an international men’s chorus committed to the performance of a cappella music performed in the barbershop style.

They invite as members men of good character who enjoy musical and social fellowship, who desire to share their love of music within the community, and who aspire to grow in musical excellence and preserve the tradition of four-part harmony singing.

The Toppers draw singers from Mt. Vernon to Chilliwack to North Vancouver and are always open to guests. About 25 per cent of the group lives in BC.

The chorus has been in existence for 50 years as the Mount Baker Toppers of the Barbershop Harmony Society.

The musical repertoire emphasizes not only the unique tradition of barbershop harmony, but also includes a diverse array of popular, sacred, and patriotic songs. Musical education and vocal training are a part of every rehearsal.

The Mount Baker Toppers are led by Doug Broersma, who is also a member of the 2005 International Champion quartet, Realtime, who appeared at last year’s Envision Twilight Concert Series.

Wednesday’s performance will include uptunes such as Lazy Day and I’m Sittin’ On Top of the World, plus Sentimental Gentleman, as well as gospel songs In That Great Getting’ Up Morning and Ride That Chariot.

The group will also include old favourites Hello, Mary Lou and What A Wonderful World, plus ballads In My Room and River of No Return, and the sacred song You Raise Me Up.

The Log Cabin Cafe and the Blackberry Kitchen are open for business before and during the concert. Admission is free but donations are appreciated and encouraged.
