The Rotary Club of Abbotsford has a new president.
Elaine Howardson was installed to the position, effective July 1. She has been a Rotarian since 1992.
She was previously involved with the Rotary Clubs of Mission and Harrison-Agassiz, serving on several boards and holding many executive positions.
For the past four years, Howardson has also served at the Rotary district level as outbound co-ordinator for Rotary’s Group Study Exchange.
Leadership is not new to Howardson. For the past 18 years she has worked in a management capacity at Prospera Credit Union. She is a past president of the Mission Chamber of Commerce, a past president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, a past president and treasurer of a local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and has served at an executive level for an Abbotsford scouting group.
“Service to our community is the best work of life,” Howardson said.
Also inducted to the board of directors were: Lenora McQueen, Marg Fletcher, Sheila Smelt, Gary Fribance, Mark Dana, Pat Tonn, Mike Wakita, Martin Silverstein, Sandy Watson, Matt Germaine and Laura Yake.
