Dormick Park Elementary School has successfully completed the Go Active! Fitness Challenge, earning $500 in Wintergreen physical education credits to use towards purchasing new gym equipment. The nine participating classes from Dormick Park Elementary met the requirements in all six exercises over the course of the Challenge.
More than 2,700 students from 33 schools across B.C. have successfully completed the Challenge.
The Go Active! Fitness Challenge, presented by McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada Limited with support from the Canadian Olympic Committee, was designed to promote physical activity amongst students.
“It’s great to see the accomplishments of students in Abbotsford to improve their physical fitness levels,” said John Uszkalo and Chuck Vertes, Abbotsford McDonald’s franchisees.
“The Go Active! Fitness Challenge is one way McDonald’s is demonstrating our commitment to encouraging a balanced, active lifestyle among young Canadians. We’re thrilled that Abbotsford students rose to the challenge.”
By participating in the challenge and exercising regularly, students were able to improve on all six exercises, including crunches, push-ups, 50-metre dash, shuttle run, standing long jump and an endurance run.
