The local business community is getting ready to honour its own as the 14th annual Abbotsford Business Excellence Awards are set for Nov. 18.

The awards ceremony, which will be held at Tradex beginning at 5:30 p.m., recognizes organizations and individuals in Abbotsford that strive for excellence.

“I’d have to say that the reponse this year has been good. We have 73 nominations for nine awards,” explains Goldie VanGarderen, the chamber events co-ordinator.

“We are expecting at least 500 people to attend the ceremony. We’ve already sold more than 350 tickets.”

Along with the nine award presentations, attendees will be entertained by the comedy of Johnny Bagpipes.

“He’s a comedian who uses his bagpipes as a prop. He’s been on Just For Laughs and the Comedy Network,” says VanGarderen.

Tickets for the awards night are $65 per person and tables of eight are available for $520. For more information, a list of the nominees or to purchase tickets, visit www.abbotsfordchamber.com.
