Celebrating the Wright way

One of Canada’s favourite country music stars will be performing at the Clarke Theatre on Dec. 3.
Michelle Wright will be singing some new hits, some personal favourites and some Christmas tunes too. This is the seventh year she is putting on a Christmas-themed tour, but the first time she has ever given a concert in Mission.
“Christmas and touring are ‘a few of my favourite things,’” said Wright. “We always have so much fun with it. I’m happy we’re hitting the road again this Christmas season. It’s becoming my very own Christmas tradition.”
Wright began her tour Nov. 24 in Saskatchewan and has been making her way to B.C. since. Mission is her third stop in this province. From here, she will travel north to Vernon, Quesnel, and Prince George before turning around to visit northern parts of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Wright was born and raised in Ontario, and now lives in Nashville with her husband Marco Concertino. Her parents were both country performers and was introduced to music at a young age. “My earliest memories of music are singing in the car, or spending the weekend with my father after my parents separated, and watching him put on a rhinestone studded suit to perform in.
“We never were a family band, but I got a lot of inspiration and encouragement from my mother. That’s where my love of country music really began,” said Wright.
Wright released her first record in Canada in 1988, and a self-named debut album in the USA in 1990.
Since then, Wright has worked with notable musicians and has walked across many stages to collect awards. The Academy of Country Music, the Junos, and the Canadian Country Music Association are among those who have honoured the Canadian-born singer.
Tickets to see Michelle Wright in concert at $34 each and can be purchased through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.ca.
The show begins at 7:30 p.m.
