Old St. Nick and The Andrew Sisters are alive and well in Langley for Fat City Swing's annual Christmas Party, featuring the six-piece musical group, Company B Jazz Band, on Friday, December 18 at the West Langley Hall, 9400 - 208 Street.

This Vancouver-based band of young performers presents a classic musical collection ranging from the 1920s through to the 1940s, all in the spirit of the Andrew and Boswell Sisters. The all-female singing trio, dressed in the vintage fashion, is backed by a full band of upright bass, clarinet and guitar/banjo. Company B Jazz Band have been featured on CBC Radio, CBC Television and have played in the festival circuit, including the TD Canada Trust Vancouver International Jazz Festival. Their reminiscent, charismatic performance will set hearts a glow, fingers snapping and feet dancing.

To get in the spirit of Christmas, Fat City will be hosting its eighth annual Gift Exchange. Bring a wrapped, unmarked gift of $5 or under to place under the beloved Christmas tree, Lionel II. Hot apple cider will be brewing and Santa may make an appearance if everyone is good, for goodness sake! Gift certificates will also be available for those last minute stocking stuffers, at a $10 special rate.

Admission is $15 or $13 for students with valid ID. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., an introductory swing dance lesson is at 8 p.m., with the band sweeping the stagefrom 9 till 11:30 p.m. This is an all ages event.

Since their inception, Fat City Swing has been a haven for the young and the young at heart, combining swing dance instruction and quality live entertainment with style and panache. Their monthly appearances at the West Langley Hall attract over 100 guests a night and have garnered enthusiasts from across Canada, the United States and Europe, creating the area's swankest all ages swing dance venue.
