It's fairly common to see someone plucking away on an acoustic guitar and singing songs of the good old days.

But Winnipeg-based singer/songwriter Raine Hamilton, who is taking the Spinners Sound Centre stage Aug. 13, takes it a step further. Not only does she sing and play acoustic guitar, she also sings while playing the violin.

Born to a musical family, Hamilton weaves humour and heartfelt vulnerability throughout her show.

"Storytelling is a big part of my live show," Hamilton said.

Hamilton recently played a house show in Vernon, and is excited for the opportunity to come back.

"The Okanagan is a beautiful space," Hamilton said. "I think that people of the Okanagan are appreciative of beautiful things, especially with art."

Hamilton plays Spinners Sound Centre, 3107-30th Ave., Aug. 13. Music starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are available from Spinners for $20 in advance and at the door.
