For the past two years, Average Gypsy has carved out a name for itself in the underground bass house music scene.

The duo consists of Josh Allen and Dani Wilson, who met at a Coachella Music Festival in 2012.

Average Gypsy will spin beats during a show at the Nanaimo Bar on Friday (Dec. 2) from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Admission is $6 at the door.

The DJ production duo hails from Vancouver. Allen has been DJing for 15 years. Wilson was working with athletes as a mental performance consultant and pursing a master’s degree.

She told Allen she has wanted to DJ, but didn’t have the time.

Allen volunteered to teach Wilson and a few months later Average Gypsy was created.

The two have performed across North America and completed a mini-tour in Spain this fall.

Wilson and Allen spend hours refining their mixing skills and also create their own tracks.

Average Gypsy specializes in wobble house, tech house, nu disco and garage.
