Harrison Festival continues through the weekend
The Harrison Festival of the Arts continues this weekend, with several performances on the beach and in Harrison Memorial Hall.
Friday, July 18, catch Quique Escamilla in the hall. With his stylistically flexible band, Quique fuses traditional Mexican musical styles such as ranchera and huapango with modern sounds of rock, reggae, pop, ska, cumbia, bolero and other Latin American rhythms.
On July 19, Nathan Music Company visits from Manitoba. Part country, part wild Gypsy music and part rootsy pop, this alternative country band isn't afraid to surprise. They will be presenting a brand new musical cocktail, the flavours of which will see the stage for the first time at the Festival.
The final concert will be the Italian group Banditaliana. Banditaliana's fresh and sunny music results from a kaleidoscope of sounds, as the band draws on a variety of forms and styles ranging from Tuscan folk music, Mediterranean traditions, jazz improvisation and contemporary songwriting.
The beach stage will feature performances by Eliana Cuevas, Mae Moore, Tony McManus, En Canto, Zimbamoto, Trivo, Orkestar Slivovica and Kakana.
The art market runs throughout the weekend, as well as a visual arts showing by Mae Moore in the Ranger Station Art Gallery.
