Vernon’s Gallery Vertigo is hosting a community exhibition of photographs of artists at work this July.

The exhibition is open to photographers of all ages and levels of experience, and all artists, wherever they work: in their studios, in workshops, in open air, on the street, or in galleries.

“We would like to celebrate the wealth of art in the North Okanagan, of all kinds imaginable,” said Gallery Vertigo board member Harold Rhenisch.

Vertigo is looking for photographs of autobody painters, landscape painters, abstract artists, cake decorators, chefs, portrait painters, interior designers, sculptors, book designers, teachers, students, printers, children, silk-screeners, jewelers, welders, metal fabricators, writers, upholsterers, novelists, web designers, sign painters, tattoo artists, landscape designers, house painters, poets, baristas, and anyone else who works artistically in the North Okanagan.

“If you are working artistically or with design, this is your show,” said Rhenisch. “All artistic work deserves celebrating.”

Photographs can be in any style, from simple snapshots to elaborate, staged portraits. The image should include an artist at work and be no larger than 8-by-10-inches in size.

“We encourage parents to take photographs of their children drawing, colouring or painting,” said Gallery Vertigo’s Michelle Mitchell. “Or children to take pictures of their parents colouring, too,” added Rhenisch.

The exhibition will run from Wednesday, July 2 through to Saturday, July 26, with a gala opening from 7 to 9 p.m., July 4.

Submissions will be accepted at the gallery between from Tuesday to Saturday this week. For more information, contact the gallery, Suite #1, 3001-31st St. Vernon or call  (250) 503-2297 during opening hours, Tuesday to Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
