Local artist Inez Jasper has done it again; as of June 4, she adds a Western Canadian Music Award (WCMA) nomination for her most recent album, Burn Me Down. The 2013 record also earned her a Juno nomination earlier this year, and both nominations come in the Aboriginal Recording of the Year categories.

“It’s an exciting day for Aboriginal music,” Jasper said, following her Juno nomination. “There is so much great music coming out of the Aboriginal community  and it’s getting noticed for the quality and original content.”

Jasper shares her WCMA category with fellow B.C. artists Head of the Herd. The final voting round began last week, and award recipients will be named in Winnipeg during the BreakOut West Weekend in October.
