Richmond magician embarks on 35th western Canadian tour

Richmond-based magician John Kaplan has launched his 35th magic and illusion show tour.

Kaplan is taking his AbracaDAZZLE! show on a month-long tour from B.C. to Manitoba that winds up May 30 with a show in his hometown, at Hamilton Community Centre.

Many of his shows are fundraisers for school and community groups, which have used funds to pay for things like new playground equipment, field trips and library supplies.

Kaplan began his performing career in Calgary. A gig at Expo 86 brought him to the Lower Mainland.

His May 30 show at Hamilton Community Centre (5140 Smith Dr., Richmond) is 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets, available at the centre, are $12 for adults and $10 for children. A family pass, for two adults and one child, is available for $30.
