Time and space on display at libraries
A series of dizzying photos shot from high above, below and around the new Port Mann Bridge as it was nearing completion and mind-bending collages about Time will be featured in the Burnaby Art Gallery’s next offsite exhibitions.
Vancouver photographer Stuart McCall set out to create industrial landscapes that examine colours, shapes and textures in his images of the construction process. As he documented the engineering feats, he says he became aware of their historical significance.
“It will be a landmark in the region for decades to come,” says McCall of the bridge.
His photos will be displayed at the McGill Library from April 1 to June 9.
Famous Empty Sky began her Portals of Time series of collages on New Year’s Day as a daily Facebook project. The works combine collage, photomontage, digital collage and 3-D collage.
The Vancouver artist selected 64 of her images, comprising the best of the series, to be displayed at the Bob Prittie Library from March 31 to March 8.
