The Maillardville venue is offering a new program called Palette... eat, paint, create! on Saturday, March 15 as part of its goal to make the arts more accessible.

The social event is open to all ages but would appeal most to adults wanting to unleash their creativity as wine and beer will be poured at the cash bar.

As well, participants can tour the Brunette Avenue facility to view the current exhibits by Mandara Lebovitz and Leesa Hanna, which opened Feb. 27 to coincide with Festival du Bois.

“We want to encourage people of the local community to explore their artistic side and to realize that you don’t have to be an artist to be creative and imaginative,” said PdA executive director Joan McCauley, in a release. “All you need is a little paint, a canvas and a willingness to be bold.”

The cost at $25 — or $40 for two people — includes food, a 20 by 20 inch canvas and painting supplies (anyone with dietary restrictions can contact special events co-ordinator Michael Fera in advance).
