Deadline nearing for contest

Young stars of tomorrow have until March 15 to apply for the Youth Talent Search 2014.

The winner of last year’s inaugural competition in Coquitlam was Julia MacLean, a Port Moody resident who has since been a guest performer in Cinderella and last month portrayed Young Fiona in Shrek: The Musical at the Michael J. Fox Theatre in Burnaby. This spring, she is in the lead role for the Royal City Musical Theatre’s 25th production of Annie.

The talent search is open to singers, dancers, musicians and artists aged seven to 19. To apply, upload a video to YouTube and email the link with your name, phone number, age and hometown to YouthTalentSearchBC@gmail.com.

Successful contestants will be asked to perform in the semi-finals at the Port Moody Inlet Theatre on April 27, Vancouver on May 24 or Richmond on May 25. Those who are shortlisted will move on to the final round of judging, held in September. The grand prize is a photography session, signing with a film/tv agent, a role in a local production and a trophy.
