Kenny Rogers concert cancelled

UPDATE: Due to illness, Kenny Rogers’ show scheduled for Feb. 28 at River Rock, has been cancelled.

ORIGINAL STORY: Legendary country music icon Kenny Rogers will be in Richmond next Friday, Feb. 28 for a concert at River Rock Show Theatre.

Rogers’ career began in the ‘50s with the single “Poor Little Doggie”—performed with a doo-wop group called the Scholars. It was then in 1967 when he joined the First Edition chalking up a string of hits on both the pop and country charts including “Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love To Town.”

After the group split, Rogers launched his own solo career in 1976. To date, he has charted more than 60 hit singles, including “Lucille,” “The Gambler,” “Lady,” “Through The Years” and “Islands in the Stream.” Last October he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

His Feb. 28 show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets, $79.50 plus service charges, at ticketmaster.ca or 1-855-985-5000.
