Diversity in Action up next at Comox art gallery
The Pearl Ellis Gallery presents Diversity In Action, a show and sale by Brenda Chalifoux-Luscombe and Sandra and Walter Moses/Ablaze Metal Art.
The show runs from Feb. 18 to March 9, with an opening reception Feb. 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. with artists in attendance.
Chalifoux-Luscombe is a self-taught pyrography and scratch board artist whose work includes wildlife and fantasy on wood, gourds, paper and scratchboard panels. You will see a large bushel gourd lamp, a funky gourd purse titled Sister Owl and mini bottle gourd ornaments that are pyro-engraved with fairy tale characters. Throughout the gallery there will be more pyrography on paper and wood. Brenda’s favourite piece is a scratchboard drawing of dragons titled Wisdom and Love.
On March 1 and March 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Brenda will demonstrate the art of scratchboard. To see more of Brenda’s art visit Bbwoodart/facebook.
Ablaze MetalArt & Design, a metal work artisan company, is starting their eighth year, creating high-quality handcrafted metal art from steel and aluminum, such as authentic native art, nature, animals, birds, fantasy into wall hangings, free-standing art, sculptural 3D art, and signage for homes, businesses or gardens.
They also do custom artwork, meeting customer requirements. "If you can dream it, we will make it” is their motto.
Sandra designs the art and Walter, with over 40 years of experience working with metal, adds his artistic ability by completing the elegant works of art.
Each piece is separately cut on a high definition Computerized Numerically Controlled (CNC) plasma machine and individually is given a unique finish. The pieces are then coated with a high quality protective coating, being the final step to completing the distinctive piece(s).
The diverse art line also includes: house and garden accessories and affordable popular silhouettes to fit different decors; each piece matchless with distinct finishes such as: silver, rust, rainbow (multi-coloured) or painted, giving further flexibility to customize to taste. These pieces of art can also be made to fit particular areas or they do custom work for individuals looking for one of a kind, exclusive pieces for which their motto stands.
You can visit Sandra and Walter’s website at www.AblazeMetalArt.com for a review before heading to the Pearl Ellis Gallery at 1729 Comox Avenue.
The gallery is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.
