Kudos to VanCity Buzz and reporter Nicolle Hodges, who scooped up an interview opportunity with broadcaster Jay Onrait at Vancouver's Chapters on Robson. In his years at TSN, with partner Dan O'Toole, Onrait's casual demeanor, dry humour, and willingness to put himself out there scored his rise to the top of Canada's sports media food chain.

O'Toole and Onrait have since taken their show to the brand-new American highlight station, FOX Sports 1, and the latter's autobiography/collection of musings, Anchorboy, was released in November.

"It's just stories about the journey through broadcasting," Onrait told Hodges. "I think, the theme of the book is, 'Embrace the journey, not just the destination.' If you want to be the lead anchor on CTV BC someday, that's great, but you're probably going to have to make some stops along the way.

"There's always something positive to be taken from every job that you do and everywhere that you go. I think the most successful broadcasters have that attitude."
