Power and Panache comes to St. Mikes
The monthly St. Michael's Presents concert series has a couple things for you this weekend: power and panache.
Both come courtesy of Elias-Axel Petterson, a Sweidsh-American piano virtuoso.
"Petterson will lead us on a whirlwind tour through solo piano masterpieces, including selections by Chopin, Scriabin and more," an event media release states. "Join us for this breathtaking tour de force."
The afternoon begins with Mozart's Fantasy in D Minor, segues into George Gershwin's Prelude and Sleepless Night Three Preludes, jumps to Franz Liszt's Mephisto Waltz No. 1, The Dance in the Village Inn and concludes with a number of movements from Chopin.
As usual, the music gets underway at 2 p.m. Sunday inside the friendly walls of St. Michael's and All Angels church in downtown Chemainus and the show will be followed by a meet-the-artist reception.
Tickets ($15 in advance or $20 at the door) are available at Owl's Nest Bakery Bistro (Chemainus), Ten Old Books (Duncan), Mike's Cafe (Crofton), Salamander Books (Ladysmith), Valley Vines to Wines (Mill Bay) and the Chemainus Festival Inn or by calling 250-748-8383.
