A retired art teacher from Coquitlam’s Centennial secondary school has a new book out with a poet.

Eighty-two of Don Portelance’s paintings are featured beside the poems of Candice James.

The 178-page book is available for purchase (at a discounted price) through Portelance’s website — portelancestudios.com — or by emailing domar39@yahoo.ca.

James is the poet laureate for the city of New Westminster, secretary-treasurer of the Royal City Literary Arts Society and a member of the League of Canadian Poets.

Portelance is on the education faculty at the University of Victoria and teaches artistically gifted students at Place des Arts in Coquitlam.

He plans to donate his book profits to the Share food bank.
