Pink Floyd Experience rocks AESC
If you were old enough to listen to mainstream radio in the 1970s, you heard Pink Floyd tunes.
If you're over 40 and don't own a copy of The Dark Side of the Moon, you're one of a rare breed.
Pink Floyd songs continue to be a staple of classic rock stations today, and how could they not be? Floyd was one of the most influential bands of the progressive rock era, and among the best selling groups of all time.
To pay tribute to that kind of legacy is actually rather daunting, but the Pink Floyd Experience takes on the task, and works hard to nail it.
At the end of their North American tour, PFX played the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre on Wednesay night, to a small but appreciative crowd.
Based out of San Diego, the six-man group is talented and tight, with some serious chops displayed on guitar and sax.
You'd have to be a serious fan to recognize some of the more obscure material that PFX pulls from Pink Floyd's deep library of songs, but classics like Money are virtually instinctive.
Those fortunate enough to see Pink Floyd 30 years ago may have given only a passing mark to the screen visuals, but the lighting was tasty and the sound excellent.
PFX saved some of the very best for last, with Comfortably Numb and Run Like Hell so close to the real deal that if you closed your eyes, it was indeed, a Floyd experience.
And yes, there was a flying pig.
