Mad Melody crew bring some new sounds to weekend show

Mad Melody Records presents their newest group The High Crime, bringing a refreshing twist to the hip hop show being held this Saturday at The Elite in Penticton.

Mad Melody Records is back for the first hip-hop show of 2013.

On Saturday Feb. 9 at the Elite Restaurant P-City, Know Value, JDK Nonstop, James Hughes and Mad Melody’s newest hip-hop band The High Crime will hit the stage at 8:30 p.m. for a  14+ aged event.

The High Crime brings a refreshing new twist on Mad Melody’s Hip-hop show. The band was originally created over a year ago from the minds of hip-hop artists and brothers, Toxik Emissionz (Seth Murray) and MC Bodhi (Robb O’Day). In the past month, the group made some radical changes as they recruited more talent growing from two members to five. First member added is DJ scratch master inZane (Zane Zieskeon), a Kelowna native and cousin of MC Bodhi. He has been mixing and producing for over three years. Second addition is established local singer/song writer Yanti Rowland, providing the group with back-up vocals. Yanti is a talented musician with many years of experience. She has skills as a phenomenal singer, songwriting and playing a range of stringed instruments. Lastly the group recruited hand drummer, Bobby Bovenzi, the instructor for Nankama hand drum lessons in Penticon. Bobby adds extra rhythm with Dejambes, Congas and more, as he performs in sync with the DJ’s instrumentals.

“The artistic range in the music is what is able to give birth to brand new original sound, that hasn’t been heard before” said Harley Pyrozyk, Mad Melody Records manager. “They share a bond that’s makes them easily work well together, and each of them brings a different levels of creativity to the band.”

With a wide variety of blended genres, ranging from reggae blues and hip-hop to rock and electro, the groups’ diversity is the main quality that holds them together.

With five new songs under his belt Know Value (Jesse England), formerly known as Jay-E, will take the stage as well. Challenging himself to step-up his producing and song-writing as a hip-hop artist, and he has done just that.

Joining the Mad Melody Records Family is Kamloops emcee James Hughes, for his first show in Penticton. Hughes is a local celebrity in Kamloops and he has done wonders for the city and the local hip-hop music scene. As an artist, promoter or a presenter, the hip-hop community holds him in high regards as one of the most respected emcees in all of B.C.

Filling up the rest of the bill is Mad Melody regulars, Vancouver artist P-City (Pat Cassidy), and Mad Melody Records partner JDK Nonstop (Kyle Keebaugh).
