A whodunnit for Millie

gleneaglemillie.jpg

A Coquitlam high school theatre will be transformed into a speakeasy — complete with flappers and mobsters — next Friday to raise money for its spring musical.

Costumed participants will enjoy a three-course meal served up by Gleneagle secondary's culinary arts program as well as a 1920s interactive murder mystery played out by Gleneagle staff, including principal Gerald Shong.

Some 40 young actors with the Gleneagle Theatre Department will entertain on stage, among them Cassidy Stahr, Max Hall, Delaney Harrison, Emily Black and Jennifer Gillis — all lead characters in Thoroughly Modern Millie, which runs at the school in May.

Proceeds from the 19+ event on Feb. 15 will pay for Millie costumes and set pieces, said drama teacher Ashley Freeborn.

• Tickets for Murder at the Juice Joint are on sale until Friday, Feb. 8. Contact Rachel Vaessen at rvaessen@sd43.bc.ca for tickets and more information.
