Surrey's got talent
Singers, musicians, bands, actors and dancers aged 13 to 21 will be taking the stage at the Surrey Arts Centre next weekend for Surrey Shines 2013.
The annual youth talent show is presented Feb. 3 at the Surrey Arts Centre.
Surrey Shines is about more than just performing for the young artists taking part. It’s about gaining experience, too, from auditions and callbacks to the dress rehearsal and finally the live performance itself. Surrey Shines is often a youth’s first opportunity to perform on a real stage with real equipment in front of a real audience, providing a platform to build confidence and gain experience.
Organized by the Youth Arts Council of Surrey, the fun, youth and family-oriented event is also a fundraiser. The council is a volunteer arts group run by youth that aims to create opportunities for young people in the arts.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show is at 7 p.m. Tickets are already on sale. Students are $12, adults $15. They’re available by calling the Surrey Arts Centre at 604-501-5566.
