Arabian destination serves up next gig for Morissette
The new year should be a hot one for Fruitvale native, Gary Morissette.
On Jan. 5, Morissette flew to Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, to start a new gig as lead guitarist for a band called Xpress.
After a few on-line auditions last year, he was offered the job said Morissette’s mother, Kelly.
“I just talked to him this morning, and he just loves it,” she said.
“He said the band is so professional, and he is going to be learning a lot.”
Under contract, Morissette will be traveling with the band to a different exotic country every three months, the next stop being somewhere in Asia.
Xpress, covers current, classic, dance and R&B hits.
In 2012, Morissette was living in Toronto, and performing with his band The Sunday Glow.
The musician rose to local fame when he reached the top-25 contestants of “Canadian Idol,” in 2008.
